Moriage - (Ceramics Porcelain)

Moriage - (Ceramics Porcelain) Type of raised decoration on porcelain.  Slip clay is applied onto a porcelain piece much in the way a cake is decorated.  In fact, moriage is often described as having the appearance of dried cake frosting.  It can separate in between ridges and has a textured (not smooth) feel.  It is also porous in  nature.  Sometimes the slip clay is colored before application; mostly it is bisque colored.
