Lustre Ceramics - (Ceramics, Decoration) Pottery and sometimes porcelain covered with a thin coating of metal. The process is very old. HispanoMoresque ware is lustre, for example. The metal most commonly used in England was copper, with platinum ('silver') next and then gold. There are several methods of application but the two main classifications are Painted Lustres in which the pottery is completely covered with the metal, and Resist Lustres in which over-glaze painting is combined with the metallic decoration.
